Der er også fremsat en hypotese om, at lupus patienter måske har øget sårbarhed over for COVID-19 på grund af mulig øget ekspression af ACE2: "...we provide evidence in lupus to suggest hypomethylation and overexpression of ACE2..."

Kan POTS patienter være mindre sårbare over for COVID-19 pga mindre ACE2 aktivitet? Eller vejer ulempen ved at have en kronisk sygdom tungere på vægtskålen?
